Answering The Most Asked Questions About Newborn Sessions

by | Jun 24, 2022 | Blog

If you’re feeling overwhelmed with all the things you need to do before the baby arrives, the last thing you want to do is think about having a photoshoot right after you give birth. You’ve probably thought about newborn photos and capturing that beautiful stage when your baby is brand new and fresh. But it seems like one more thing to stress about. So often people don’t do newborn sessions because the idea of them seems so overwhelming. I am here to help you every step of the way. These photos are going to be so important to you, let me answer the most common questions you might have so you will be ready to book!

When should I book my session/when will my session be? I always recommend booking your session as far in advance as possible. This will give us time to plan your session, order any props we might need, and it decreases your stress because you won’t be scrambling to find a photographer. As for your session, I like to do newborn sessions before your baby is ten days old. As a rule send me a text when you leave the hospital and we will schedule your session!

Who can be included in the session? Newborn sessions come in all shapes and sizes. Most commonly your immediate family will be in your session. However, I have also done newborn sessions that include extended family. Grandparents love to be a part of sessions and creating albums for them is always so special.

What do I wear to my session? I provide a full wardrobe for mamas and babies. You will only need to bring clothes for your partner and your kiddos. I have beautiful gowns for you to wear and an endless supply of swaddles for your sweet babe.

Where will the session take place? I always offer to do newborn sessions at your home. This way you don’t have to pack up your new baby into the car and come to the studio. However, you also have the option to come to the studio. Some Mama’s like coming to the studio for the session because it is a more relaxed environment. It gives them the opportunity to unwind, get their hair and makeup done, and relax. Both options are available depending on what you would like!

Why should I do a newborn session? After just having a baby the last thing most new parents want to do is be in front of a camera. Not only are you sleep deprived, you’re also taking care of a newborn, and running around to all of your doctor’s appointments. Even with all that happening you are going to want to remember this time forever! Your baby is only going to be this little for so long. Before you know it they’ll be running around your house with their friends. You’re going to want an album to look back on and art on your walls to remember when your family grew.
