One of my favorite things to do especially in a newborn session is to highlight the family’s personality within the session. Do you love the dodgers? Is your husband obsessed with Star Wars? These are things that should be showcased in the pictures of your family and here is why.
- When you look back at these pictures you should see your family! What you like as a family, your personalities, and your hobbies. The days of standing against a white wall and saying cheese are over, it’s time to see who you are in your pictures.
- Honoring a family member through photography is a great way to celebrate someone special in your life. Did you grow up watching Lakers games with your dad? Have your newborn wear a Lakers jersey in a few pictures. This leads me to number 3.
- They’ll make such great gifts. Your family will love any art you give them but if the pictures include you reppin’ their favorite sports team you know it’ll have a special place in your heart.
- It’s a great way to encapsulate a specific time in your life. Do you have school aged kiddos? Wear shirts with their school mascot in a few of your pictures or get some non cheesy school pics in my studio.
- To celebrate milestones. Is your baby turning one? It’s time for a smash cake session and let’s incorporate your baby’s favorite stuffed animal into the photos so you’ll remember their bond forever.
Nothing is better than being able to see your family in the art around your home. Your kids should walk down your hall or look above the fireplace and see your family and the things that make your family unique.
